The senior hurlers continued their preparation for the senior championship with a friendly match with Tipperary opposition, Roscrea on Thursday last.
Portumna started well and without the injured Shane Moloney were not short of fire power and led at the interval by 1-7 to 4 points, the goal scored by Ronan o Meara.
Portumna did not keep the extremely high work rate and faded out of the match in the second half. During this period Roscrea hit 2-4 without reply. Portumna fought back tagging on 4 points but 2 late goals from the Tipp side put the decider beyond doubt.
In the end Roscrea won comfortably on a 4-8 to 1- 12 score line. A lot of work still to be done for the seniors as the first round of the championship awaits the team after the christmas.
